Response to BFA show

I think that th BFA show was great. There were a lot of really impressive works of art. There was one piece that really caught my attention though. The piece by Kristine Rumman entitled “war at home” was really powerful. It had a great message about how the Israeli government was destroying lives and sending people away from their homes in palestine and all people were left with was a key to their house. The piece featured glass Ak-47s that were suspended above the installation and the walls were covered with cast glass keys. On the floor were also glass tree stumps that represtnted the destruction of olive trees. The way in wich the piece way arranged gave a sense of destructon and you could feel the impact that she was trying to express. The design of he layout was also appropriate, it gave the viewer someting to look at with every turn. The number of glass keys on the wall gave the audience an idea on how severe the war was and the numbers of people affected by it. I was personally moved by this piece and I do not even know much about the war. The piece alone gave me a sense of how bad this is and I think she represented it well.
There was also a piece in the show that I thought was not set up well. The piece was by Robert Guyette and was entitled “Gut Rub 1-9.” This piece did not appeal to me at all. I thought that the way the pieces were arranged followed no grid pattern or any real thought at all. They just seemed to be arranged at random. The pieces were painted wood boards in a few different shapes. The attention to detail was sub par and the layout of each piece did not make sense to me. To another person this piece could be viewed as an absolute success, but form a designers standpoint it just seemed like a mess.
All in all the show was awesome. There were pieces that I absoultely loved and a few that did not appeal to me, but overall it was well done and a great success.

1st World Changing Website

For my first website I was thinking of doing something about glass.  It it one of my favorite hobbies and I wanted to incorporate it into this assignment.  I thought about making a website that would promote National Glass day.  The point of the day would to use as much glass as you could in a day.  ex: drink out of a glass, eat with glass dishes, buy artists glass, etc.  The website would feature info on glass making as well as links to local blowers that you could purchase work from.  It would be a great way to gain knowledge on the subject and support glass blowers.

Hey

This is the first post on my blog!
